There is a special temple for Rukmini Devi on the way to Bet Dwarka temple, which can be reached by boat. A similar deity of Lord Dwarakanath is also kept in Bet Dwaraka. The temple has many Shrines for Lakshmi Narayana, Trivikrama, Jambavati Devi, Satyabhama Devi and Rukmini Devi.

The term Maharaja Palace actually refers to a series of palaces in Vadodara, India, constructed since the Gaekwad family started ruling the Vadodara State. The first one was a building known as the Sarkar Wada.

Museums In Gujarat
"The Gandhi Museum" Sabarmati Ashram (Gujarati also known as Gandhi Ashram, Harijan Ashram, or Satyagraha Ashram) is located in the Ahmedabad suburb of Sabarmati adjoining to famous Ashram Road, at the bank of River Sabarmati, 4 miles away from the city Town Hall. This was one of the residences of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. This ashram is now a national monument by the Government of India due to its significance in the Indian independence movement in the form of the Dandi March in 1930.

The Sabarmati ashram which receives about 7 lakh (700,000) visitors a year houses, photocopies of about 34,000 letters written by Gandhi and about 8000 photographs and 165 films and of course, Hriday Kunj, the house where Gandhi and Kasturba stayed from 1918 to 1930.
A charkha' used by Gandhi to weave khadi and the writing table he used for writing letters are also few of the priceless items kept here.

"The Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya"
The Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya in Ahmedabad is run by a public trust established in 1951. The museum's main objective was to house the personal memorabilia of Mahatma Gandhi. There are books, manuscripts, and photostat copies of his correspondence, photographs of Gandhiji with his wife Kasturba and other ashram associates, life size oil paintings.

The Dangs - Gujarat is having the largest area under forest cover. Gujarat has 4 National parks and 21 sanctuaries. Gujarat is the only home of Asiatic Lions. Outside Africa, Gujarat is the only present natural habitat of lions. Before Independence several wars were fought between the five tribal kings of Dang and the British. According to the history of Dang, the biggest ever war took place at Lashkaria Amba, in which kings of all five erstwhile states got together to protect Dang from British rule. The British were defeated and decided to discontinue war and resorted to compromise.

As per historic compromise treaty was signed in 1842 according to which the Britishers were allowed to use the forests and their natural products against which they had to pay certain amount around 3,000 silver coins to the five kings of the then monarchy. However, currently the kings are offered monthly political pension by the Government of India, which is the main source of their income. This payment is continued even though all privy purses for the Princely states of India were stopped in 1970 since the agreement was between then monarchy of Dangs and the British.

Gir Forest National Park in the south-west part of the state covers only part of the lions' habitat. The Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (also known as Sasan-Gir) is a forest and wildlife sanctuary in Gujarat, India. Established in 1965, with a total area of 1412 km² (about 258 km² for the fully protected area (the National Park) and 1153 km² for the Sanctuary), the park is located 65 km to the south-east of Junagadh.

It is the sole home of the pure Asiatic Lions (Panthera leo persica) and is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species. The ecosystem of Gir, with its diverse flora and fauna, is protected as a result of the efforts of the Government forest department, wildlife activists and NGOs. The forest area of Gir and its lions were declared as "protected" in the early 1900s by the then Nawab of the princely state of Junagadh. This initiative assisted in the conservation of the lions whose population had plummeted to only 15 through slaughter for trophy hunting.

Religious sites In Gujarat
Dwarakadheesh temple In Dwarka is one of the important temples dedicated to Krishna. On the tip of the Arabian Sea, it was home to Krishna.

The Dwarakadheesh temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here by the name Dwarkadhish, or 'King of Dwarka'. It is situated at Dwarka, Gujarat, which is believed to have been built after the historic Dvarka city, the Kingdom of Krishna himself which submerged in to the ocean after the Mahabharata war. The main shrine of the 5-storied building, supported by 72 pillars, is known as Jagat Mandir or Nija Mandir, and is believed to be 2500 years old. The Dwarkadhish Temple is Pushti Marg Temple hence it follows the guidelines and rituals created by Shree Vallabacharya and Shree Vitheleshnathji.

The present temple was built in 16th century CE, while the original temple was believed to have been built by Krishna's grandson, Vajranabha, over the hari-griha (Lord Krishna's residential place) and became part of the Char Dham pilgrimages considered most sacred by Hindus in India, after Adi Shankaracharya, the 8th century reformer and philosopher, visited the shrine and even today a memorial within the temple is dedicated to his visit.

Palitana Temples
are a complex of Jain temples situated 51 km south west of Bhavnagar. There are 863 temples from the base to the peak of the Shatrunjaya hill, where the Palitana temples are located.

The Palitana temples are considered the most sacred pilgrimage place (tirtha) by the Jain community. There are The main temple on top of the hill, is dedicated to 1st tirthankar lord Adinath (Rishabdeva). On the top the Shatrunjai Hill is a cluster of Jain temples, built by generations of Jains over a period of 900 years, from the 11th century onwards. From the foot of the hill to the top there are 3,800 and odd stone steps cut to facilitate climbing.
Bhavnagar, the nearest airport lies at a distance of 51 kilometre from Palitana.

Somnath City of Temple - Gujarat Triveni Ghat, Ahilyabai temple, Junagadh Gate, Bhalka Tirth, are some of the significant tourist destinations in Gujarat in Somnath Veraval.
The Somnath Temple located in the Prabhas Kshetra near Veraval in Saurashtra, on the western coast of Gujarat, India, is the most sacred of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of the God Shiva. Somnath means "The Protector of (the) Moon God". The Somnath Temple is known as "the Shrine Eternal", having been destroyed six times and rebuilt six times. Most recently it was rebuilt in November 1947.

According to the legends, Soma or the Moon God built the temple in gold, Ravana in silver, and Shri Krishna in wood. Soma being arrogant about his beauty, was cursed by his father-in-law Daksha to wane. He then build the Somnath temple at the Prabhas tirth (a Hindu pilgrimage) and prayed to Lord Shiva who removed the curse partially. Thus, Causing the periodic waning of moon.

Air - The nearest airport from Somnath is Keshod 55 km away and linked to Mumbai. There are regular buses and taxis plying between Keshod and Somnath.
Rail - The nearest railhead is seven km away at Veraval, which is connected by train to Ahmedabad and some other cities in Gujarat.
Road - State transport corporation buses and private coaches run regular service to other cities in the region. Somnath is connected by a good road network to the other nearby places like Veraval 7 km, Mumbai 889 km, Ahmedabad 400 km, Bhavnagar 266 km, Junagarh 85 km, and Porbandar 122 km.

Modhera Sun Temple is famous for its rare position as specifically and uniquely designed for the worship of the Sun, Lord Surya., painting, and sculptures, there is a central pond. Surrounding it stands 108 small temples for each of the Sun God's 108 names.

The Sun Temple was built by Raja Bhimdev I of Solanki Dynasty in AD 1026. This was the time when Somnath and the adjoining area was plundered by Mahmud Ghazni and reeled under the effects of his invasion. The Solankis, however, regained much of their lost power and splendour. Anahilvad Patan, the Solanki capital, was restored to glory. Royalty and traders jointly contributed to build grand temples.

Solankis were considered to be Suryavanshis, or descendants of Sun god. The temple was so designed that the first rays of the sun fell on the image of Surya, the Sun God, at the time equinoxes. The temple comprises three separate but axially-aligned and integrated elements.

1. Surya Kund, which is an intricately carved, stepped tank named after Sun god Surya.
2. Sabha Mandap, which is a hall used for religious gatherings and conferences.
3. Guda Mandap, i.e. sanctum sanctorum, which once housed the idol of Sun God

Shankheshwar Jain Temples are dedicated to the 23rd Tirthankar, Lord Parshvanath. It is believed that this idol was revealed by Lord Krishna. It is near Ahmedabad.
Shankheshwar is an important tirthas (place of pilgrimage) of Jainism.
According to Mughal history, the Shankheshwar village was a lease-grant by Emperor Shah Jahan to Shantidas, a former mayor of Ahmedabad.
Apart from the original sanctum-sanctorum, this temple has an open square, a decorated square, a vast square and two assembly halls. Numerous miracles are associated with this temple and the presiding deity of Lord Parshwanath, represented by a six feet high statue in the Padmasana (lotus) position. The sanctum of the presiding deity is flanked by a smaller sanctum with Lord Bhidbhanjan Parshvanath to the right and another sacntum with the Jain Tirthankara Lord Ajitanatha to the left. The statues of Nagraj Dharanendradev, Goddess Padmavatidevi, Parshva Yaksha and Goddess Chakreshvaridevi can also be found in the temple.

Ambaji Temple This temple is dedicated to goddess Ambaji. Ambaji mata temple is a major Shakti Peeth of India. It is situated on the Arasur Hill and can be approached by road from Abu Road in Rajasthan, as well as from all other important places in Gujarat.

A large number of devotees visit the temple every year especially on Purnima days. A large mela on Bhadarvi poornima (full moon day) is held. Every Year from all over the country people come here walking all over from their native place just to worship MAA AMBE in July. The whole Ambaji is lighted up as the whole nation lights up at the festive time of Diwali.

Dakor Temple This temple town dedicated to Lord Krishna is situated about 90 km from Ahmedabad.
On full moon days, people visit the temple to seek the blessings as was done by the devotee who brought Shree Krishna to the temple. So there is a great inflow of people and the town is very crowded. There is a carnival or fair taking place around February and March, on the day of festival of Holi and observed by all Hindus as a mark for triumph of the truth and goodness.

On the day of sarad purnima which comes after end of navratra is the day believed on which lord krishna come to dakor as ranchodrai with his great devotee known as badona. Lord comes to dakor to fulfill the promise that he will come to dakor with bodana.

Becharaji Temple
This temple is another important seat of Mother Goddess at Becharaji in Mehsana district. This temple is thronged by Hindu devotees, especially childless women. It is among the three Shakti Pith's worshipped in Gujarat as Bala at Bahucharaji, as Ambika at Ambaji and as Kalika at Pavagadh.

The main temple fort and gate was built by Manajirao Gakewad in Samvat 1839 or 1783 AD when he was Suba of Kadi. He gave 3 villages for the maintenance of the temple. These villages were subsequently taken over and Rs. 10,500/- per year was paid towards maintenance which is merged and is now under Government control.

For the development of this temple Sayajirao Gaekwad extended the GBSR railway that was under the control of his state up to Becharaji.
The centre temple was built by Maratha Fadanvesh. It has been renovated.

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque In Ahmedabad is one such famous and ancient mosque of the city. The Mosque in the year 1411 A.D. Built by Sidi Sayed, The mosque is famous all over the country because of its fantastic architecture and exquisite jali work (perforated stone lattices).
